EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. It comes in the form of a number that needs to be used by British businesses that import and/or export goods into or out of the UK, which may also include Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.

In a nutshell, all businesses in the UK exporting or importing between Great Britain and other countries need an EORI number.

A UK EORI number is issued by the British Customs Authority (HMRC) and only valid for businesses in the United Kingdom. If your company imports goods into or exports goods from the UK, it requires an EORI number in order to remain compliant. The number will start with GB, followed by 12 digits based on your company’s VAT number.

If HMRC hasn’t already supplied you with a UK EORI number, you can apply for one here
